February Project - Isometric Environments

Back in January, I made up my new year's resolution to make one pixel art piece a week, to help me keep my productivity acceptable. Starting in february, I decided to also make monthly projects to experiment on a few different things. To start off, I went with an artstyle I've been meaning to make for a while, that being Isometric.

Doing these was a fun experience, and it showed me just how cool it is to just sit back and do something technically simpler every now and then. I found myself a bit more relaxed when making it, and the simpler style was much easier to finish in a satisfying manner, as opposed to my previous work, which required me to work hard on every aspect and didn't quite turn out as I wished.

All that said, however, I do long for the thrill of taking a tough challenge, something that reinforces my fundamental skillset. I'll keep doing such projects for the following months, but it won't be for the entire year, and it won't be as simple as this one. I hope that you enjoy these nonetheless; I do make these for others just as much as I do them for myself.

1st week was summer! Why did I go with summer first? It hits closer to home. It's always either summer or rain where I live. It's not as comfy as this picture, though. I wish I was that lettuce.

2nd week was spring, and I went for a slightly more natural-feeling environment, which stuck for the other 2 pieces.
The fruit seen here is an apricot, by the way. I think it's the least obvious character out of these so I felt the need to point it out.

3rd week was fall, and it's my personal favorite. Not much is going on in this one compared to the others, but I loved doing all the clustering work on the ground leaves. Doing the color palette was also very fun and IMHO it's the best one from the 4.

4th week, winter! It's got a snowman, and two siblings playing in the snow! I think digging yourself in snow would be fun, right? I wouldn't know, I've never seen snow in my life. I wish I was that apple, too.

And here's all of them together! I quite like how nice they look when merged, much more than I thought, actually. It gives this strange sense of accomplishment as I see this, like they were somehow meant to be together despite being totally unplanned.
